Milton Keynes raid nets haul of watches

A robbery, which took place at the start of the trading day, has seen thieves make off with a number of Rolex watches from a jewellers in Milton Keynes. However, security shutters and other precautions ensured the haul was kept to a minimum.

Local police are now carrying out an extensive investigation into the incident at the Fraser Hart store in The Centre MK mall. Speaking about what happened, the director of the shopping centre, Robert Hall, told the local press:

“This morning (Friday November 30 2012) we had a smash and grab style robbery on Fraser Hart where three individuals entered the store, smashed a glazing panel within the store and they appear to have taken a number of Rolex watches which were in the window display.”

The raid happened just after 10.15am, when the shop shutters would have been open and access to the store ready for customers. Fortunately, smoke screens and emergency activated shutters were triggered to seal of the other displays in the store.

Hall confirmed that there were no injuries to staff or public caused in the burglary. Saying that training at the centre itself and Fraser Hart would help identify the gang, he continued:

“The police are now carrying out a full investigation and our interest is the safety of the staff in the store and obviously our guests and customers to the centre itself.

“Staff training […] is very much about witnessing, collecting evidence and protection of public and guests into the area and that went very smoothly.”

Police are appealing for more witnesses.
